1) Membership: We have reached out to our members that have not attended dances in a long while. We expressed that we miss them at our dances and invited them to the remaining dances and also invited them to our remaining lessons. They were all asked if they were still interested in square dancing. We have tried to get an honest reason why they are no longer dancing. We want to know what we as a club can do to accommodate our missing members and get them back dancing.
Here are some of the responses:
a. Some members are not dancing at this time due to injuries or health issues
b. A few cannot dance at all anymore due to health or injuries
c. Some have been too busy with work or family responsibilities.
d. Some were just looking for a possible relationship and square dancing is not for them
e. Some are hoping to return to dancing with us shortly!
We love to see all our club members dancing and miss all of you who have not danced with us in a while.
2) Lessons: Our students are graduating Tuesday May 2, 2017. Please celebrate with them as they get their certificate and club badges. We will have a potluck starting at 6:30pm followed by dancing and graduation at 7:00. Mike Salerno will be calling our dance and graduating our students. We will have officers from the HOA and the NEKSDA in attendance to congratulate our newest members!
3) Yearly Club Planning Meeting: will be held Tuesday May 9th at 7:00pm at the Grange. All members are invited to attend. This is the meeting where we set next seasons committee budgets and dance schedule with themes.
4) The Executive Board held a meeting Sunday April 23rd and decided to have a Demo/Parade committee instead of a Demo/Parade Coordinator. Leslie & I will get the demo information to the committee and file any needed insurance papers with Kim. We are looking for members to join the committee. This will be a way for members to get involved and help promote our club and square dancing. All the work will not be on any one person or couple. Let Leslie or I know if you would like to join our committee. We will also have sign-up sheets available at our dances.

Edgerton Summer Kickoff Block Party…Location: Downtown Greenspace, Edgerton, KS, Saturday June 3, 2017, event starts at 6:30 with the Docey Dandies presenting an introduction to square and line dancing at 7:30pm, Stan & Beth have offered to call this event. b. Baldwin City Lumberyard Arts Event June...Location: 718 High St, Baldwin City, KS.
Friday June 16, 2017 6:00pm We have been invited by the Ottawa Promenaders to participate in this demo with them. Caller is Kerry Wallace. Go to www.lumberyardartscenter.org for more information.
c. Still in the works, May 20th, 12:30pm – 2:30pm intro to square dancing, Eudora, KS more information to follow when details are complete.
