Live Band Dance
The square dance season is in full swing with our lessons, dances and club travels started. Any time you have questions about what the club has going on, just go to our website, doceydandies.org. Christi does a great job keeping the info updated and our website is an invaluable tool for the club.
Membership renewal: If you haven’t already renewed your club membership, now is the time. Ken & Suzann have the forms at our lessons and dances. We also have a copy of the form for the HOA Fed Facts and the KSDA Membership that need to be returned to Ken if you want those publications. They are great for knowing what is going on in our area square dance world!
Lessons: Lessons are in full swing! We can accept new students thru October 3rd and after that date, any new students will be able to take January lessons. Please consider being an angel with our students and get to know our future club members. Lessons are Tuesdays from 7 – 9pm. We are almost done with Plus Lesson plans/dates and will announce the dates soon!
One of our own in need: We would like to help out Jules and her family. She had been going through a tough time with a serious medical concern and is unable to work for quite some time. At our next dance on Sat, Sept 23rd, if everyone could bring some food for her. Be aware she is gluten-free but any food items would help feed the entire family. Tia recently visited her and is willing to deliver the food we gather.
Baldwin City Maple Leaf Parade: The Docey Dandies along with the Ottawa Promenaders will again participate in the Maple Leaf Parade in Baldwin City. Lynda and Greg have the dancers lined up but if you want to try dancing on the float, let Lynda know as this will be the last opportunity this year! The date is Saturday October 21st, 10:30am, see Lynda for additional details.
67th National Square Dance Convention News: The 67th National Square Dance Convention is in Kansas City! The date is June 27-30, 2018 and this is as close as we will get to enjoying a national convention this close to home. If you have already signed up and paid for the convention you do need to fill out the long registration form to complete your registration. You DO NO have to pay the registration fee again but the long form is the way to get signed up for the tours, entertainment, convention book and schedules and hotels or camping if needed. There will also be an app you can purchase for the convention with all the schedules and information you will ever need. If you have not signed up, please consider doing so as this is a great time to meet callers & dancers from all over the country and the world. The cost is $60.00 per person at this time. Forms are located on the table by the bulletin board during lessons and dances or contact Daryl or Leslie for one.
Live Band Dance:
Everywhere you dance help promote the Live Band Dance on Sat Oct 28th, 7p-10p. Diane and Lynda are the leads on this and will be contacting you for everyone’s help with this fun dance! We do have fliers available at the Grange if you can distribute some.
