The Festival on the Trails: A new opportunity to share with your friends just how much fun square dancing is. This is a popular 2-day (June 10, 11) festival with an attendance of 15,000 people: with a car show, kids activities, concerts Friday and Saturday evening and much more. We have been asked to be a part of this year’s festival and we are planning a Western Dance Party. Starting at 5:30 pm Saturday June 11th at the corner of Washington and Elm the Festival committee wants us to put on an introduction to line and square dancing event. From 5:30pm-6:30pm we will offer to the public a chance to dance with us. At 6:30pm we will move inside the Grange building for the party. and we will be providing Sloppy Joes (Daryl’s family recipe, yum), chips and a drink, as well as a chance to cool down in the air-conditioning. From 6:30pm-8pm we will again be giving the public a chance to dance. Chuck will be our caller for this fun event and has some neat ideas on how to get many people involved dancing. Invite your friends or just bring them with you for any part of this fun evening.
The Festival on the Trails has been heavily advertised by country radio station 94.1 KFKF as the beginning of their “Summer of Fun” concerts with Diamond Rio playing the main stage Saturday night. Last fall Diamond Rio played at their last Summer of Fun concert and they had to turn people away so they are saying if you come you will see Diamond Rio. They are telling people to come early which will hopefully give us more people to work with! We hope to see everyone there and please dress casually for this event! Need more information? Contact Leslie or Daryl.
4) PUBLICITY – Tim and Christi
We would like to get photos to help promote the health benefits of square dancing. We would like to get "before" and "after" square dancing photos of your step counting devices such as vivofit, fitbit, phone app,..etc. If you are traveling to a dance, please get a single or a group photo of your devices and email them to us. We would also like to get "before" and "after" group wrist photos of devices at our summer dance on July 16.
